Cookie Policy

What we actually use
Strictly necessary cookies load automatically, because the site can't function without them. Google Analytics is different: it does not load at all until you click "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner. Choosing "Necessary only" keeps it off permanently, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing the linigu-cookie-consent value in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site retargeting.
| Name | Purpose | Loads when | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
sessionid | Keeps you signed in between page loads, and ties a QA report created without an account to you. | Always (necessary) | Until you sign out, or ~2 weeks |
csrftoken | Protects your account from cross-site request forgery — a security measure, not tracking. | Always (necessary) | 1 year |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics — distinguishes visitors so we can see aggregate traffic and usage patterns. | Only after you click "Accept analytics" | Up to 2 years |
hub_ui, hub_lang | Remember the language of the pages you use, so account pages and the editor open in that language. They are not used for tracking. | When you open a language page or choose a language in the menu | 1 year |
linigu-hub-theme (localStorage, not a cookie) | Remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode. | When you use the theme toggle | Until cleared |
linigu-cookie-consent (localStorage, not a cookie) | Remembers your choice: "granted" or "denied". | When you choose on the banner | Until cleared |
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site — which pages are visited, roughly how much traffic we get, and general patterns like device type or country. This is aggregate usage data, not tied to your Linigu account or your translation content. It only runs if you've clicked "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner; choosing "Necessary only" (or simply not responding) keeps it off. Google's own handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Other third-party cookies
If you buy balance, Paddle's checkout (loaded from paddle.com) may set its own cookies to process the payment securely and prevent fraud — these are governed by Paddle's own privacy policy. If you sign in with Google, Google's own sign-in page may set cookies during that flow, governed by Google's policies.
Managing cookies
The sessionid and csrftoken cookies are strictly necessary — disabling them will prevent the service from working correctly. Google Analytics is not required for the site to function and can be blocked without affecting your ability to translate documents. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser's settings.
